Next Event

MDCE' s next Festival is on the 16th April. Stalls are still available and can be booked via MDCE's e mail.

We have been able to book the Research bus. The research buses are designed to bring health studies into the community, visiting diverse settings such as health centres, care homes, places of worship and voluntary hubs. Each bus is equipped with both clinical and consultation spaces, enabling a wide range of activities, from taking blood samples and conducting physical assessments to engaging in discussions about research opportunities

A further Festival is planned for October which will focus on Culture, Creativity and Leisure which will be held the Grove School on Saturday 25th October 2025

During the October half term The School's Calendar Project will be exhibiting the pictures painted by school pupils from across the Market Drayton area deemed to be best in case, with some fantastic pictures from budding artist.

MDCE is pleased to announce some positive developments. During the February Trustee meeting, Brian Welti, the High Sheriff of Shropshire with the Town Crier, presented Roy Clayton with a High Sheriff's Award in recognition of his volunteer contributions to the Market Drayton Canal. Additionally, the High Sheriff visited Market Drayton Infant & Nursery School to present an award to Suzanne Edwards (MDCE Trustee) for her efforts with local schools, specifically the School’s Calendar Project. The School’s Calendar Project has received grants from Stronger Together, Tesco, and David Wilson Homes to assist with funding art materials for the school workshops and the public exhibitions.

Throughout February, the Trustees have been actively engaged, including meetings with the 4AllFoundation and collaborative work with the Grove School to conduct mock interviews.

On Wednesday, April 16th, MDCE hosts the annual Health & Wellbeing Festival, featuring over twenty exhibitors. This year, the event will include the Health Research bus, which provides complimentary advice and consultations on a variety of health issues. The bus will be stationed outside the Town Hall for the duration of the festival.

Roy Clayton, the long term Canal Team Coordinator,  working with a team of nine volunteers, is preparing to pass on the role. If you are interested in coordinating this group moving forward, please contact marketdraytoncommunityenterprise@yahoo.com.

MDCE needs new Trustees and volunteers with IT and website skills to support our latest project. We plan to install an electronic information screen outside the Town Hall to promote local events organized by voluntary and charity organizations. If you can offer a few hours each month for marketing, website development, festival organization, minute-taking, or general support, please meet the Trustees for an informal chat. For more information, contact Market Drayton Community Enterprise.
